Residency and Fellowship Programs
Every year, about 150 physicians with UTCOMC receive training at Erlanger through accredited residency and fellowship programs. The accredited residency programs include:
- Emergency medicine
- Family medicine
- Internal medicine
- Obstetrics and gynecology
- Orthopedic surgery
- Plastic surgery
- Transitional studies
Additionally, physicians receive advance training through fellowships in surgical critical care and vascular surgery.
Through the efforts of local physicians appointed to the University faculty, UTCOMC provides education not only for the residents training at Erlanger, but also for medical students and practicing physicians. UTCOMC offers continuing medical education for physicians already in practice.
Hundreds of nursing students and other aspiring allied health professionals train at Erlanger, as well. On any given week, you'll find an average of 185 students at Erlanger, representing 114 different clinical training programs. And 100 to 150 medical students from schools across the country participate in clinical rotations (hands-on experience with patients) at Erlanger every year.
