Education and Collaboration

Erlanger is a multi-hospital health system with an academic medical center based in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Our mission is to compassionately care for people, with a commitment to healing, teaching, and leading. Erlanger serves to deliver high quality care to diverse patient populations, offering a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient medical services to more than 600,000 patients per year from 50 counties within our region. Erlanger is the region’s only Level I Trauma Center and houses The Children’s Hospital at Erlanger with a Level IV NICU. This combined with various Primary Care and Emergency Pharmacy Services, provides a dynamic learning environment. Pharmacy residents gain exposure to a variety of specialized areas, including critical care, which includes 9 intensive care units and 2 emergency departments; robust infectious diseases rotations; renal transplant medication management; numerous ambulatory care clinics; neonatology, general pediatric and pediatric emergency medicine experiences, and multidisciplinary management of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). As an Academic Medical Center affiliated with the University of Tennessee College of Medicine at Chattanooga, Erlanger fosters a collaborative learning experience. Pharmacy residents train alongside 207 medical residents and fellows across 10 residency programs and 15 fellowships.
