Structural Cardiology

What is Structural Cardiology?

Structural Cardiology is a unique area of cardiology focused on caring for the physical structures of the heart – its chambers, walls, and valves. Structural Cardiology has greatly expanded over the last 10 years, and now offers patients new choices not available in the past. This includes replacing and repairing heart valves through minimally invasive approaches, which can lead to greatly reduced hospital stays – and a much faster recovery for you.

  • Shaping the Future, Developing Options – Our physicians train future cardiologists at the highest level through the UT College of Medicine Cardiology Fellowship Program. We also offer the latest clinical trials through the Erlanger Institute for Clinical Research (EICR), a research center comprised of skilled and experienced researchers with access to otherwise unavailable heart treatments.

Conditions and Treatments

Heart Valve Disease - Heart valves are like small doors that open and close to allow blood to move through the heart. These are amazing structures, but tend to get diseased as we age. Erlanger offers options to treat these structures through minimally approaches, leading to excellent outcomes with a rapid recovery.

Aortic Valve Disease
Mitral Valve Disease

Stroke Prevention Erlanger is not only a leader in stroke treatment, we are also now at the forefront of stroke prevention. We offer state-of-the-art options that give new choices to reduce the risk of stroke caused by underlying heart conditions.
