Dr. Larry Shears serves as Erlanger's Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery. He is a leading specialist in robotic cardiothoracic surgery, performing bypasses and other major heart surgeries without opening the chest. This minimally invasive approach – performing coronary artery bypass surgery and valve replacements through three small incisions – has changed the entire philosophy regarding cardiothoracic surgery.
