The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine – Chattanooga, in partnership with Erlanger, is proud to announce the nomination of Hannah Bowers, MD, for the Alper Humanitarian Award. Dr. Bowers was nominated by Angie Yates, MD, Program Director for OB/GYN residents.
“As her program director, I have seen her be unyielding in her advocacy for her patients and co-residents,” said Dr. Yates. “I say this with pride, as she is the type of resident we should all hope to graduate from our institution. She is competent and capable and sees the patient as the top priority in all that she does.”
Dr. Bowers will pursue her Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship after graduation at the Cleveland Clinic.
“She has a humble attitude yet a drive to succeed and create change that I believe will make her an unstoppable force in her future practice,” said Dr. Yates.
UT Health Science Center College of Medicine – Chattanooga, in conjunction with the Erlanger Foundation, Erlanger, and an endowment from the family of the late Dr. Harold Alper, has established the yearly ceremony and grand rounds keynote address. The Alper Humanitarian Award is presented to a graduating resident or fellow at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine – Chattanooga who has consistently demonstrated during residency or fellowship the humanistic qualities for which the late Dr. Alper was known: integrity, compassion, and community service.
