The Adult Acute Care Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellowship is a full-time, twelve-month, paid, professional position. The program is designed to provide new graduates with a structured, closely mentored introduction to the complex field of medical speech pathology.
Equipping Candidates with Advanced Skills
There is a critical need for clinicians proficient in interdisciplinary care capable of managing a wide range of communication, cognitive and swallow disorders. Recent graduates often face challenges transitioning from academic training into real-world clinical practice. The clinical fellowship program will equip the successful candidate with advanced diagnostic and therapeutic skills specific to the acute care setting.
Providing Mentorship Support
Clinical fellows will be provided with a primary mentor who will offer guidance throughout the twelve-month fellowship. Candidates will also be provided with specialized mentorship while completing a wide range of ICU rotations including neurology, trauma, cardiopulmonary and medical surgical units.
Achieving Clinical Competence
Upon completion of the program, candidates will be competent in the practice of medical speech pathology. They will be eligible for state licensure and meet standards for ASHA's certificate of clinical competence.
