Advanced Hip Replacement Options
Hip pain can make everyday activities like walking, climbing stairs, exercising and even getting a good night's sleep difficult. When conservative treatments no longer provides relief, hip replacement surgery is often an effective option to restore mobility, reduce pain and improve quality of life.
Our fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeons provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment for hip arthritis, injury and other conditions affecting the hip. Every treatment plan is personalized to your needs, lifestyles, and goals.

Hip Replacement Options Available at Erlanger
No single surgical approach is right for every patient. Your orthopedic surgeon will recommend the technique that best fits your anatomy, diagnosis, and activity level.
- Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement
Minimally invasive hip replacement uses smaller incisions and specialized surgical techniques designed to reduce disruption to surrounding tissues. Many patients experience less postoperative pain, a shorter hospital stay, and a faster recovery compared with traditional approaches. - Anterior Hip Replacement
The anterior approach accesses the hip from the front of the body, allowing the surgeon to work between muscles rather than detaching them. This muscle-sparing technique helps reduce postoperative pain and supports an earlier return to daily activities for appropriate candidates. - Posterior Hip Replacement
The posterior approach is one of the most established and widely used techniques for hip replacement. It provides excellent access to the hip joint and is an effective option for many patients, particularly those with more complex anatomy or certain medical conditions. - Hip Revision Surgery
Although most hip replacements provide many years of reliable function, some patients may require revision surgery because of implant wear, loosening, infection, fracture, instability, or other complications. Revision hip replacement is a specialized procedure that replaces or repairs some or all of a previous hip implant.
Our orthopedic surgeons evaluate patients with painful or failed hip replacements and develop individualized treatment plans based on the cause of the problem.
