We are please to announce the reopening of our job shadowing program. Due to continuing COVID-19 presence, job shadowing opportunities will be approved on a case-by-case basis. We will make every effort to accommodate you as we have space and staff available. Job shadow candidates must be sixteen or older; the Emergency Departments, Surgery and Intensive Care Units cannot accommodate students under the age of eighteen. Applicants must be 18 AND a high school graduate to shadow in any part of Children’s Hospital. Shadowing in COVID-19 units, suspected COVID patients’ rooms or COVID floor care areas are strictly prohibited. Shadowers must wear a self-provided surgical mask at all times. Goggles face shield or other PPE in patients’ rooms will be required regardless of COVID status.

To qualify for Job Shadowing, you must:
- Complete the Job Shadow application
- Provide documentation of MMR & Varicella (chicken pox) immunization
- Provide documentation of a negative TB skin test or negative chest x-ray within the last 12 months
- Provide Documentation of Flu vaccine (October through March)
The Job Shadow application and required health records must be submitted at least THREE weeks prior to the desired start date to allow for coordinator and clinical department review. Records should be emailed to: email@example.com.
Upon coordinator and departmental approval, you will be contacted to complete HIPPA, Code of conduct and Privacy training online.
Job Shadow candidates may not enter a clinical area until all paperwork is complete and an identification badge is issued.
