Dr. Ryann Cowart is a board-certified family medicine physician in Hayesville, NC, and is affiliated with Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital. She moved back to Western North Carolina from Savannah, Georgia, where she has been in practice for more than 10 years with diverse clinical experiences in outpatient, hospital, and academic settings. She received her undergraduate degree from Western Carolina University and obtained her medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Her family medicine residency was completed at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA, where she specialized in women’s health and global health, including serving as an international family medicine physician at a local refugee clinic. She is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Cowart provides full-spectrum primary care for all ages, with a specialized focus on evidence-based medicine, women’s health, preventive care, and chronic disease management. She is passionate about providing high-quality patient care and effective patient education while also building meaningful relationships with each of her patients. She believes improved health outcomes are attainable by empowering patients with knowledge and tailored treatment strategies to support them on their individual health journey. Additionally, she is able to perform a variety of in-office, minor medical procedures, including Dermatologic, Gynecologic, and Musculoskeletal procedures. 

In her spare time, Dr. Cowart can be found at local dog-friendly parks/trails walking her rescued German Shepherd, Luna, and enjoying the beautiful natural wonders provided by WNC. She is a strong supporter of animal rescue, which underscores her compassionate and nurturing nature toward others. When indoors, you will likely find her devouring books on her Kindle, working out with weights and high-intensity interval training, or watching British crime dramas with her family.
