About / Overview

Dr. Dutta grew up in New Jersey and attended an accelerated combined BS/MD program through The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) and Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS). While in medical school, he was accepted to the prestigious Leadership & Innovation Fellowship Training (LIFT) program at the University of California, Irvine, where he completed a year of clinical and translational research in urology. After obtaining his medical degree, he completed a 6-year residency in urologic surgery at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine program. Finally, he completed his subspecialty fellowship training in Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS) at the University of California, Los Angeles, before joining the urology faculty at Erlanger.

With his training, Dr. Dutta specializes in the care of complex male and female voiding dysfunction (urinary problems), urogynecology, neurourology (urination problems related to neurologic diseases such as Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, or spinal cord injury), cancer survivorship (after treatment for prostate cancer, cervical cancer, uterine cancer, bladder cancer, etc.), pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence (leakage), prostatic enlargement, and general urologic problems. He is an expert in multiple surgical approaches and techniques, including open surgery, prosthetics, upper and lower urinary tract endoscopy, vaginal surgery, laparoscopy, and robotic surgery.

Dr. Dutta is actively involved in clinical urologic research. He has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications and over 5 book chapters. He prioritizes teaching residents and medical students. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, discovering new music, reading, weightlifting, traveling, and trying new restaurants
