About / Overview

Dr. Rachel Nelson is a board-certified pediatric hospitalist with years of hands-on experience caring for children and supporting families through some of their most vulnerable moments. Her greatest joy is connecting with patients, empowering families, and mentoring residents. She is also committed to preventive medicine and fascinated by the powerful intersection between nutrition and disease.

Dr. Nelson is an active member of her local church and community. She also loves exploring Chattanooga's great outdoors with her husband and two teenagers.

Dr. Nelson graduated summa cum laude from Wichita State University. She attended Loma Linda School of Medicine and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of California, Davis. She is board-certified in both general pediatrics and pediatric hospital medicine and has been an assistant faculty member at Children’s Hospital at Erlanger since 2017.
