About / Overview
Dr. Ethan Matz is a board-certified, fellowship-trained reconstructive urologist at Erlanger Urology, specializing in the surgical treatment of complex urologic conditions. Dr. Matz’s clinical practice focuses on the surgical management of urologic trauma, reconstruction, and genitourinary prosthetics. His particular interest is in urethral reconstruction for urethral stricture, penile curvature (Peyronie’s Disease), and genital plastic surgery, including buried penis repair. He utilizes advanced surgical techniques, including robotic-assisted and minimally invasive procedures, to deliver personalized, evidence-based care that improves function, outcomes, and quality of life.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Matz serves as an Assistant Professor of Urology at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences College of Medicine in Chattanooga. He is dedicated to resident education, mentorship, and advancing the future of urologic care. He serves as residency program associate program director and medical student director for the Department of Urology.
Dr. Matz always wanted to be a doctor. Inspired by his physician father, Dr. Matz always felt like medicine was more than a job – it was a calling and a profession. Outside of work, he enjoys trying new food and restaurants, hiking and exploring new areas, and spending time with family and friends.
