Pulmonary Medicine Critical Care Sleep Medicine Robert Rudd, MD

About / Overview

Dr. Robert Matthew Rudd is a board-certified pulmonologist, intensivist, and sleep medicine physician. He is a homegrown southern boy who grew up in Jackson, Tennessee and enjoys spending time with his family and friends whether out on the lake, at a sporting event, or just sitting around a fire chatting (with lots of s’mores if his four sons have their way).

Dr. Rudd earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from The Ohio State University before attending medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), where he developed a passion for the respiratory system as well as treating critically ill patients. He completed his internal medicine residency and pulmonary/critical care fellowship at UTHSC, and during fellowship was influenced by incredible attending physicians to pursue a career in sleep medicine. He completed his fellowship in sleep medicine at the University of South Florida, where he developed a particular interest in hypoglossal nerve stimulation as an alternative to CPAP therapy for patients with obstructive sleep apnea and CPAP intolerance.

Dr. Rudd loves living in Chattanooga, where he is proud to serve his community and home state of Tennessee in the hopes of helping his patients sleep a little easier.
