About / Overview
Dr. Jordan Paynter is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in adult reconstruction, total joint replacement, and general orthopaedic care. He joins his partners at Erlanger Orthopaedics in bringing advanced expertise in primary and revision hip and knee replacement and partial joint replacement and helping patients regain mobility and quality of life through surgical and non-surgical treatment options.
A graduate of McCallie School, Dr. Paynter has long standing ties to the Chattanooga community and is proud to return home to practice.
He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Augusta University Medical Center before pursuing fellowship training in adult reconstruction and total joint replacement at Northside Hospital.
Prior to joining Erlanger Orthopaedics, Dr. Paynter was in Statesboro, Ga., where he cared for patients with degenerative joint disease, arthritis, fractures, and a wide range of orthopaedic conditions.
Physicians run in Dr. Paynter’s family. He’s the son of general surgeon Dr. Steven Paynter, and his sister, primary care physician Dr. Laura Hill, is married to Erlanger radiologist Dr. Andrew Hill. Dr. Paynter and his wife live in Chattanooga with their three sons and a daughter. When he is not working, he enjoys watching college football, reading, golf, fishing, and going to the beach.
Dr. Paynter is committed to building strong relationships with referring providers and delivering timely access to advanced orthopaedic care for patients throughout the region.
