About / Overview

Dr. Daniel Nelson is board certified through the American Board of Surgery (ABS) in Complex General Surgical Oncology. He received his fellowship training in Surgical Oncology at the John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, California. He also received specialized fellowship training in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Cancer Surgery at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Nelson specializes in the management of cancers involving the liver, biliary system, pancreas, and gastrointestinal tract (digestive system). He is trained in minimally invasive robotic surgery and utilizes this technique when appropriate.

Dr. Nelson was a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Medical Corps with 14 years of active-duty service. His military career included combat deployments to Afghanistan (2019) and Iraq (2021). His service has been recognized with numerous military awards, including three meritorious service medals, a Combat Action Badge, the Army Commendation Medal with Combat Device, and a NATO ISAF Medal.

Dr. Nelson is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology. He is a member of the International and Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Associations, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.

In his free time, Dr. Nelson enjoys spending time with his family outdoors in nature.
