Rebecca Adam

Rebecca Adam and her family

My name is Rebecca, I am a wife and a mother of three. My two boys, Peyton and Colton, were diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at birth. Peyton and Colton have had numerous admissions since the age of two. Between their care, school, and sports, they keep me busy as a full time mom. In my free time I enjoy crafting, traveling, and giving back to my community. I hope to one day go back to school for nursing, but for now I proudly represent parents in the CF community while serving on this council.

“My son’s first and last breaths were here at Erlanger Baroness’ Campus. Joshua Lee Freeman, my only child, was born on Erlanger Baroness’s 5th floor, and then almost 4 years later, he drew his last breath as a cancer patient on the 3rd floor of TC Thompson Children’s Hospital. Fast forward to almost ten years after my Joshua’s birth, I made the decision to become a security guard here at Erlanger Baroness in order to honor my brother, Ray Bean, who was murdered. As I began to walk the halls of Erlanger Baroness day-after-day, a strange thing began to happen, I started to heal. During my tenure here, I met my soon-to-be-husband, Tommy Akins. My security guard career came to a close after committing over two years of service to Erlanger,  its patients, and their families. I have now taken up residence in EROC, Erlanger Regional Operations Center, as Pucket EMS Dispatch. I also felt led to become an Erlanger Volunteer with the Parent Advisory Council; we shall see where this path takes me in helping others.”
