The New Children’s Hospital at Erlanger Is an Ambitious Reimagining of the Region’s Only Comprehensive Children’s Hospital
The first vision of the Believe Campaign was completed in December 2018, with the opening of the Children’s Hospital at Erlanger’s Kennedy Outpatient Center. Currently, the Campaign is focusing on raising funds to complete a reserved shell space in the Kennedy Outpatient Center to house a Pediatric MRI and Procedure Center. The Kennedy Outpatient Center is a major addition to Erlanger Health System and is one of the most important new buildings in Chattanooga, and a new benchmark for children’s hospitals around the world. It will also serve as a catalyst and gateway to a “Wellness and Innovation District” that will spark the continued transformation of Chattanooga, while attracting the best medical talent to our region.
Plans are currently being worked on for the approach and staging for building the Children’s Hospital, Children’s Emergency Department and the Women’s and NICU areas. There are always great needs to raise more money to improve facilities at Erlanger while ensuring the highest level of care for more than 1 million children across a four-state area—offering 22 pediatric subspecialties affiliated with the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. Our hospital treats more than 90% of all children with cancer in our community. Each year, Children’s Hospital at Erlanger cares for more than 3,500 inpatients and newborns, provides emergency treatment for 40,000 visits, and outpatient services for over 55,000 children, and ensures that all children in our region have access to the highest level of pediatric care.
