About / Overview

Dr. Carr, board-certified through the American Board of Surgery (ABS), specializes in pediatric laparoscopic surgery and pediatric trauma. Dr. Carr joined University Surgical Associates in 1986. He is currently serving as the Pediatric Trauma Medical Director for Children’s Hospital at Erlanger. Dr. Carr received the distinction of having the Star of Life State Award (EMS state award) named in his honor. This was due in large part to the active role he played in getting recognition to Erlanger's pre-hospital providers. He felt that these men and women were unsung heroes of medical and trauma care in the field. Dr. Carr has been actively involved in pediatric outreach education for all the regions that Children's Hospital serves and has taken an active role in doing outreach education in the form of lectures to pre-hospital providers, nurses, and physicians in our region. He also attends pediatric mock code scenarios for education within our region with our CRPC outreach education team.
