Dr. Chelsea Shugars is a board-certified, fellowship-trained neurologist who specializes in neuromuscular medicine. She attended Clemson University for her undergraduate studies, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in health science. She worked at the National Institutes of Health before pursuing her medical education at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.

Dr. Shugars spent the rest of her medical training at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. There, she completed an internal medicine internship, along with a neurology residency, in which she served as Chief Resident of Neurology during her final year. Her training culminated in a fellowship in neuromuscular medicine.

In addition to her interests in all aspects of neuromuscular medicine, including ALS, CIDP, myasthenia gravis, muscular dystrophy, and myopathy, Dr. Shugars is also interested in advanced electrodiagnostic techniques like peripheral nerve and muscle ultrasonography.
