Dr. Jemison, a native of Memphis, Tennessee, graduated with honors from Washington and Lee University and the University Of Tennessee College Of Medicine. He completed his General Surgery internship and Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine-Chattanooga, at Erlanger Medical Center.
Dr. Jemison’s training included a one-year fellowship in Hand and Upper extremity surgery at the Indiana Hand Center in Indianapolis. His training also included a fellowship in Hand trauma management in Switzerland with the AO Group.
Dr. Jemison joined Hayes Hand Center in 1990 and is Board Certified with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He has also received the Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, along with other regional and national medical professional societies. He is an active Faculty Member in the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery and Plastic Surgery at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine-Chattanooga. Dr. Jemison has served as the President of the Tennessee Orthopaedic Society and Tennessee Hand Society and also as a member of the Board of Councilors for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.
His special interests include hand and arm trauma and its reconstruction, arthritis surgery, nerve surgery, pediatric congenital reconstruction and problems and injuries of the wrist and elbow.
Dr. Jemison is married to the former Hilda King of this area, and they have two sons, King and Bo. He and his family are active at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church.
