Cardiovascular disease includes heart attack, stroke, heart failure, hypertension, and diseases of the arteries like aortic aneurysms and dissections and peripheral arterial disease. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States and the world. Most importantly, many of the long term effects and damage attributed to cardiovascular disease can be prevented if caught early and treated.

What is Hypertension?

Hypertension, or high blood pressure (HBP), is a common condition in which the pressure in your arteries is higher than recommended levels. Uncontrolled hypertension is an important risk factor for coronary artery disease (blockages), heart attack, heart failure, stroke and renal failure.

Recommendations for optimal blood pressure numbers have been made by several professional societies like the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Hypertension. These goals are individualized based on your medical conditions and age.

What is Dyslipedemia?

Dyslipidema is an abnormal concentration and/or composition of fats or lipids in the blood. Like high blood pressure, uncontrolled dyslipidemia increases your risk for cardiovascular disease and lipid recommendations are based on your individual medical conditions. Thus, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach, but rather treatment should be individualized.

We Help Reduce Your Risk of Heart and Vascular Disease

Hypertension and dyslipidemia frequently coexist and both are major risk factors for stroke and heart disease. The good news is that both conditions can be prevented and/or successfully treated.
