About / Overview
McKinley Waugh is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner who specializes in urology. She provides comprehensive urologic assessments, develops patient and family centered treatment plans, and manages the care for acute and chronic pediatric urologic conditions. She believes the most rewarding part of her job is seeing the progress and improvement in her patients’ health and the relationships she is able to build with the patients and families.
Prior to her role as a pediatric nurse practitioner, McKinley worked in the pediatric float pool as a registered nurse at the Children’s Hospital at Erlanger serving the neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric intensive care unit, pediatric acute care, and the pediatric emergency department. McKinley received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. While in graduate school, McKinley completed her DNP Scholarly Project entitled “Educating School Nurses to Improve Bowel Continence in Children with Spina Bifida” which focused on educating school nurses about spina bifida and bowel management. McKinley is certified as a pediatric nurse practitioner by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.
McKinley credits her passion for pediatrics and urology to her niece who was born with spina bifida. She has seen firsthand how impactful physically and mentally urologic problems like incontinence can be to a child and how resilient children are. McKinley hopes to be able to help all children in the Chattanooga area who live with various urologic conditions reach their full potential.
