The Erlanger Pension Plan is a retirement program that is 100 percent funded
by Erlanger (Chattanooga-Hamilton County Hospital Authority Pension Retirement
Plan & Trust). An employee must be 25 years old, worked 12 months and
a minimum of 1,000 hours as a regular employee to be eligible. After
meeting these requirements, an employee will be entered as a participant in the
Erlanger Pension Plan on the earlier of January 1 or July 1.
Temporary and Relief Pool employees are not eligible for the Defined Benefit
Plan. A participant is fully vested after three years of pension
service. Pension Service is accrued by working a minimum of 1,000 hours as
a regular employee during the pension year, July 1 through June 30.
Normal retirement age is age 65, however, the Plan does provide early payout
provisions. To receive early retirement, an individual must be at least 55
years old with at least 10 years of pension service. An employee who
reaches at least 30 years of pension service and reaches age 60 is eligible to
receive early retirement with full benefits. There is also a provision
that allows terminated vested payments to participants who have exited their
employment and have a vested benefit.
