System recognizes the fact that employees will, from time to time request leaves
of absence from the Health System. Specific questions not addressed here may be
directed to Employee Relations, in the Human Resource Department.
Health System considers educational/personal leave requests. The following are
examples of events that may qualify for educational/personal leave.
- Returning to school full time to pursue a degree.
- Private or personal matters not covered under the provisions of Family
leave, such as childcare problems, sabbaticals, and emergency
The maximum amount of leave time available is 12 months. An employee who is
approved for a personal leave may receive available PAL, but not EIB. However,
reinstatement rights do not apply for an employee on a personal leave. All
regular employees who have completed their six-month probation period are
eligible for personal leaves of absence.
