Help for Haiti...and
Beyond
Sometimes Erlanger Health System's healing mission
extends far beyond hospital walls. That's why we've created options to make it easy for
you to make an online gift today
to benefit 2010 medical missions in Haiti and
other important medical work outside our region.
The Baroness Erlanger
Foundation created the CARE FORCE
Global Fund to support Erlanger Health System's medical outreach efforts
around the globe or across the United States in
recognition that we are all citizens of the world with a common humanity. As a Level I Trauma center, Erlanger's
physicians, nurses and other caregivers are uniquely positioned to be of service
in the wake of mass disasters, such as earthquakes or hurricanes. The Global
Fund will not only support the efforts that are taking place
today in Haiti, but also will be used in relief efforts for future
disasters.
On January
18, Erlanger Health System sponsored its
first medical mission to Haiti . The three-person team provided
emergency surgery and medical care to thousands of earthquake victims - some who had
waited weeks for treatment. Once
they returned, a second team was sent to provide the necessary follow-up care and primary are, so those who'd already been treated could stay
alive.
Currently, our focus has shifted in response
to the ever-changing needs in Haiti . Based on
our team's first-hand reports that there are sufficient medical
personnel on the ground, we now
seek to provide basic medical necessities, such as crutches, to meet
the great demand.
If you'd like to help
Haiti ' s earthquake victims while giving to a local, trusted foundation,
please consider giving
today.
For more information on
making a financial contribution or giving gently-used crutches, please call the
foundation at
