   
The mission of The Baroness Erlanger Foundation is to advance medical
excellence in our community. In 2008, The Baroness Erlanger Foundation
played a key role in securing grants totaling $2.8 million, which will be
applied to projects such as:
- Creating Erlanger Care Centers, which
provide a system in our emergency rooms to allow for separate treatment of
non-emergency patients and to help direct them to a primary care
physician. This is being implemented in collaboration with Blue Cross
Blue Shield of Tennessee's Volunteer State Health Plan.
- Building a telemedicine system that will link most of our region with specialist care at Erlanger, provide continuing medical education to distant primary care physicians and ultimately improve the health of our residents in areas that previously had limited access to care from specialists.
