Erlanger opens new Emergency Center to serve East Hamilton community
Chattanooga, Tenn. – The grand opening of the Erlanger East Emergency Center means that residents of East Hamilton County and surrounding communities now have access to the area’s only 24/7 emergency center.
“Our new, full-service emergency center is the only facility of its kind to serve the growing population in this area,” said Charlesetta Woodard-Thompson, Erlanger Health System President and CEO. “Our staff is looking forward to providing much-needed emergency care to the residents here.”
The new emergency department has the capability to care for both children and adults, treating everything from sports injuries to major illnesses, 24/7, 365 days a year. It is equipped with the latest technology, housing 17 treatment rooms and a six-bed clinical decision observation unit. The emergency center provides full-service radiology, laboratory and respiratory services, including nuclear medicine capabilities and employs specialists fully-trained in emergency care. In fact, 100% of the center’s physicians are American Board Certified in Emergency Medicine.
This facility is Erlanger’s fifth emergency center in addition to the Baroness Campus, Children’s Hospital, Erlanger North and Erlanger Bledsoe.
The opening of the new emergency center at Erlanger East is one phase of a master plan to grow with the needs of the region. Previous expansions at Erlanger East include the labor and delivery area and the nursery suite; increased surgical capabilities with the addition of a daVinci robot; and the establishment of Erlanger’s full-service imaging center with the purchase of Galen Imaging. Additional inpatient beds will be constructed in multiple phases as Erlanger East to accommodate more patients as Erlanger continues to grow with the community.
