Respiratory Care, including pulmonary diagnostic services, is an allied health profession engaged in the consultation, evaluation, diagnostics, and therapeutic management of patients with dysfunctions of the respiratory and cardiopulmonary system.
Respiratory Care Services
Therapeutic management includes: respiratory patient assessment, arterial blood gas analysis, the application and monitoring of oxygen and mixed gas therapy, respiratory medication administration, humidity and aerosol therapy, positive pressure breathing, mechanical ventilatory support, artificial airway care, bronchial hygiene therapy, and emergency respiratory services such as airway support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Pulmonary Diagnostic Services
Pulmonary diagnostic services are provided to both inpatients and outpatients. Physicians may schedule patients for outpatient pulmonary diagnostic procedures by calling the Centralized Scheduling Department at 423-778-5800.
