Jan Keys, DNP, RN, FACHE
Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive
Janice Keys serves as Senior Vice President & CNE for the Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Her current role has oversight of Nursing Leadership at all campuses of one of the largest public health systems in the United States. Dr. Keys is a Board Certified Healthcare Executive and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Dr. Keys joined the Erlanger Health System in March of 2011, after serving in various nursing leadership roles in Georgia and Tennessee. She most recently served as the CNO for the Hamilton Healthcare System in Dalton, Georgia for 6 years. She also served as the Nurse Representative on the Georgia Hospital Association Board and received recognition for outstanding contributions and leadership as President of the Georgia Organization of Nurse Leaders, 2009-2010. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree form the University of Tennessee, received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from University of West Georgia and completed a Wharton Fellowship from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007.
Dr. Keys currently serves as a Faculty Advisor at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga School of Nursing, Chattanooga State College School of Nursing, Lee University School of Nursing, Southern College School of Nursing, Dalton State College and University of West Georgia College. She is the author of several articles related to the disclosure process in the healthcare system and her work on the effects of advanced practice nurses and hospitalists with a focus on observation patients has been presented by Sg2, a well-known healthcare think tank, at national conferences. Dr. Keys has been recognized by VHA National for her work on the Robert Woods Johnson project, Transforming Care at the Bedside. She has lectured nationally on the nursing process she terms, RetuRN to Care.
Dr. Keys and her husband, Kyle, live in the Chattanooga suburbs. They have two children: Julie, who is a Registered Nurse in Calhoun, Georgia; and Laura Beth who is a Master Cosmetologist in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
