QUESTION ANSWER
How do I apply for a position at Erlanger? Enter Erlanger's website. Click on Find A Job to reach the Applicant Home Page. Click on View Job Posting/Apply for a Job to see the employment vacancy list and complete our online resume.
Is Erlanger hiring at this time? Positions that are posted on the Job Vacancy List are open positions that management needs to fill.
Are job requisitions posted for a minimum time? Yes, all positions at Erlanger must be posted for a minimum of three (3) business days.
How will I know the closing date on a job requisition? Erlanger does not have closing dates on our vacant positions. A manager may leave a position posted until they have an adequate pool of qualified candidates to interview and select.
I'm interested in specific job types. Can I search Erlanger's Job Postings Page for only those openings? (Example: Nursing, Clinical, and Finance/Accounting) Yes, the Job Posting page contains job categories. The applicant may select only the areas of interest by clicking on the specific box. Or the applicant can leave the boxes "blank" and the search will display ALL job vacancies.
Can you explain a few of the job categories you have listed on the View Job Postings page? Administrative/Clerical:Administrative and clerical support positions, as well as some supervisors and coordinators. Examples: secretary, receptionist, and registration personnel.

Clinical: Positions requiring completion of a formalized certification program and/or degree. Examples: Radiologic Technologist, Pharmacist, Medical Technologist, Surgical Tech, EMT, and Paramedic.

Clinical Support Services: Positions that assist in the clinical areas. Examples: Certified Nursing Assistants, Patient Care Technician, Patient Care Transporters, Pharmacy Techs, and Guest Representatives.

>Engineering/Construction:< Positions which perform facilities construction and maintenance services. Examples: Corrective or Preventive Maintenance Techs, Carpenters, and In-house Construction Techs.

Light Industrial: Examples: Housekeeping (Environmental Services Assistant), Courier, Grounds Maintenance, and Drivers.

Professional/Para-professional: Non-clinical positions. Examples: Chaplain, Care Manager I (Social Worker), and Internal Auditor.
I've submitted an application, but not for a specific vacancy. When will the recruiter and/or manager have access to my application? Once you've submitted the application, the recruiter has access to review your application. Daily, the recruiters are searching the database to match the most qualified applicant for a vacant job requisition. The recruiter will "route" your application at that time for the hiring manager's review.
I've applied for a "specific" vacant position. When will the recruiter and/or manager have access to my application? Once an application is submitted for a specific position, the recruiter and the hiring manager have immediate access to your application. However, due to the volume of applications we receive, the recruiter and/or the hiring manager may not contact you at that time.
I applied for a position several weeks ago and noticed that the job is still posted. Do I need to reapply? No, if you applied for a specific position and it is still open on the job vacancy board, you will not need to apply a second time.
Reasons for a position to remain on the board include:
1. The manager would like to have a large pool of applicants before ranking and selecting who to interview.
2. The manager may have numerous projects or the work load is prohibitive to interviewing immediately.
How long do you keep applications on file? Applications are kept on file for six (6) months.
The position I applied for requires a typing test. What should I do? If you have not taken the typing test, you will need to complete the test in the Employment Office before your application can be processed.

If you have taken the typing test within the last 6 months, you may call the Employment Office after submitting your application. The HR Assistant can review and enter the typing test on your application.
What hours may I take the typing test? Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:00 pm. Tuesday and Thursday between the hours of 7:00 am and 3:00 pm.
How long are typing tests kept on file? The typing tests are kept on file for six (6) months for external applicants and twelve (12) months for internal applicants.
What is the definition of the shifts that are listed on the different job requisitions? The following are examples of the different shifts available:
1st shift: 7 am - 3 pm, 8 am - 4 pm, 9 am - 5 pm
2nd shift: 3 pm- 11 pm, 4 pm - Midnight, 1pm - 10:30 pm

Weekend shift: Predominate hours are worked on weekends and may include hours on a day within the regular work week.
If a job is listed as full-time, how many hours a week could I expect to work? Erlanger considers 32 - 37.5 hours a week as full-time.
How many hours a week do I need to work to receive benefits? Regular, but not temporary positions, that are posted to work a minimum of 19.5 hours per week or more are eligible for benefits.
How can I check on my application? Enter Erlanger's website. Go to the Applicant Home Page by clicking on Find A Job. Log in by entering your email address and password. Then click on View Application Status.
May I attach or paste my resume when applying on-line? Yes, go to the Applicant Home Page and click on either "Create/Update Resume" or View Job Postings/Apply for a Job. The first page of the on-line resume allows you to attach or paste a resume.
Is it necessary to complete all the fields within the on-line resume? Ideally, the resume should contain as much information as possible for several reasons:
The system will use the information you provide to assist in screening for positions.
Recruiters and hiring managers will be reviewing work experience, education, training, certification/license, and references to match qualifications for the job.
Contact information is important to correspond and communicate better with both the applicant and any references provided.
