The physicians with Academic Urologists at Erlanger specialize in treating urinary tract organs, such as the kidneys, bladder, and urethra, as well as the male reproductive system. They manage medical problems such as urinary infections and offer surgical and laser treatment for cancers, female incontinence, and congenital abnormalities. Argil J. Wheelock, M.D., Norman Richard Galen, M.D., and David Horger, M.D., are board-certified by the American Board of Urology and Amar Singh, M.D. is board-eligible.

Dr. Wheelock earned his M.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine after receiving a B.S. degree from East Tennessee State University. He served as captain and medical officer in the U.S. Army and completed general surgery and urology residencies at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

Dr. Galen practiced urology for 28 years in New Orleans, La. and was an assistant professor at Tulane University before relocating to Chattanooga. He received his M.D. from Tulane Medical School, completing an internship and surgery residency at Charity Hospital-Tulane Division and a urology residency in the Tulane Urology Department. He has a special interest and extensive experience in treating female incontinence.

Dr. Horger earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleson, S.C., where he also completed his internship, residency and specialized residency in urology. He holds an MBA from the Colgate Darden Graduate School of Business Administration and a B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Virginia. Dr. Horger has worked in the aerospace and construction industries, as well as in computer programming. He has a special interest in laparoscopic procedures and treatment of kidney stones.

Dr. Singh received his M.D. from the SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse, New York, after graduating cum laude from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. with a B.S. in chemical engineering. He completed his internship and residency training at University Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y., and his fellowship training at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Md. Dr. Singh specializes in minimally invasive (laparoscopic) renal surgeries as well as robotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy and cystoprostatectomy, with urinary diversion.
